For the context of the Amsterdam Zuidoost Light Route 2023, the Iridescent Institute of Desire (IID) proposes to reimagine the future of the Bijlmer speculating upon ‘criper’ and queerer futurities. Inspired by authors like Octavia Butler or Ursula Le Guin, the IID projects fables on the Bullewijckpad’s surroundings that can also be perceived as ‘bedtime’ stories.

Three workshops hosted by the artists prompted the creation and development of texts and visuals that were projected onto the urban surrounding.These creative writings are the result of a collaboration between the IID and the inhabitants of the H-Buurt and other Zuidoost neighbourhoods. They invites curious minds to participate in soft encounters that engage somatics and creative writing, opening the space for fabulation, fantasy and regeneration. These intimate moments are urgently inviting and welcoming queer and disable audiences. They intend to give queer/crip voices a space for radical imagination, where each subjectivity is empowered to thrive and imagine brighter futures .
The resulting ‘bedtime’ fables can be collective, individual, collaborative or even akin texts,perhaps also beyond language. They were projected onto the pavement or the facade of the Hakfort building, to be read by the surrounding inhabitants, from the cosy intimacy of their home, and passersby.
