While close binaries (Eta Virginis Aa, Eta Virginis Ab) engage in a celestial duet, a
distant third companion (Eta Virginis B) completes this ternary system.
Zaniah, a set of three irradiating sculptures representing a triple-star system,
explores the elastical unpredictability and dynamic instability of non-hierarchical
systems.
Breaking down this problem into small segments and “staying with the trouble”
(Haraway, 2016), fosters an understanding of seemingly unpredictable motions.
Collaborating with Pedro Matias, a sculptor and audiovisual artist, each sculpture
hosts a hollow interior illuminated by an infrared light, meticulously mirroring the
luminosity and warmth emitted by the distant star.
The audience, serving as a gravitational center, not only becomes an integral part of
this non-hierarchical system but expands it to an n-body problem.
